Version 1.2 Released June 2026

Your stock, your angles, your layers

Nest one job across several sheet sizes, allow your own rotation angles, and sort cut and engrave layers with rules saved on your account.

01 · Stock sizes

Nest onto the sheets you actually have

One job across every sheet size in your rack, with the quantities you have of each.

Under Sheet size, add a row for every size you stock with Add sheet size, and give each a quantity. Leave the quantity empty for unlimited sheets, or set one to nest onto finite stock.

Lapas Core packs the parts across them and picks which size each sheet uses. If you want the sizes used in your order, press Set order and the sheets are used top to bottom.

When the declared stock runs out, the parts that did not fit are listed as unplaced, with that reason, instead of being put on a sheet you do not have.

Stock sizes
One job, two stock sizes, the size chosen per sheet Two stock sizes are listed: 3000 by 1500 with a quantity of 2, and 2500 by 1250 with no limit. Parts fill two 3000 by 1500 sheets, the first size's quantity drops to 0 left, and the remaining few parts go onto one smaller 2500 by 1250 sheet. A note says Lapas Core picks the size for each sheet. 3000 × 1500 qty 2 0 left 2500 × 1250 qty ∞ Lapas Core picks the size for each sheet
Two big sheets in stock, then a smaller size. The job fills what you have.

02 · Rotation angles

Allow the angles your part can take

Triangles and angled brackets find the gaps that 90° turns miss.

Besides 90° steps, open Advanced angles and tick the fixed rotation angles a job may use: every 45° from 0° to 315°. Pick your own set and the job reads Custom.

For a part that must keep its grain, Keep as drawn and Grain / directional stay the safer choice. For irregular shapes, Any angle packs tighter still.

Rotation angles
A part tries each allowed angle until one fits The allowed angles are 0, 45, 90 and 135 degrees. A triangular part is tried at 0 degrees over a diagonal gap between two placed parts and does not fit, then at 90 degrees and still does not fit. At 45 degrees it turns and seats in the gap. 0° 45° 90° 135° 45° steps
Straight, and turned 90°, the part does not fit the gap. At 45° it drops in.

03 · Layer rules

Every upload sorted the way you name layers

Stop ticking the same layers on every file from the same drawing office.

In Settings, write DXF layer rules for cut layers and decorative layers, with * and ? as wildcards: *CUT*, ENGRAVE*. Every upload is sorted by them. When nothing matches, layers are detected as before.

Also under Nesting defaults: Group multi-shape uploads by default, to keep a file with several shapes as one part. You can still change it per part before nesting.

Layer rules
Layer names sorted into cut and decorative by name rules Three layer names come out of a DXF file: CUT_OUTER, ENGRAVE_LOGO and DIM. The rule star CUT star sends CUT_OUTER to the Cut column, and the rule ENGRAVE star sends ENGRAVE_LOGO to the Decorative column. DIM matches no rule and stays out, greyed, with the note: no rule, auto-detected. DXF Cut *CUT* Decorative ENGRAVE* DIM DIM no rule: auto-detected CUT_OUTER ENGRAVE_LOGO
The rules sort each layer as it arrives. A layer no rule matches is detected as before.

Smaller changes

  • Every part placed

A job always spreads across as many sheets as it needs, so no part is silently left out.

  • Find a part

Filter parts by name when setting up the job.

  • Cut and engrave layers apart

The layer panel shows cut and decorative layers in separate tabs, and engrave lines are drawn thinner in the preview.

  • Quicker quantities

Plus and minus arrows on each part card.

  • Light theme

Switch the app between light and dark.

  • More files import

Circles, curves and other awkward shapes import correctly.
